Bob Hardison

When we rotated out of Germany in 1961, all the friends I had in high school seemed to disappear, until I found this great web page.  Thanks, Ron!  My father had a “gang-plank” retirement and we relocated to what we euphemistically called our hometown, Columbia, Tennessee.  Having never lived there, since it was just where my grandparents lived, and breaking in to the school cliques where everyone had gone to school together since Kindergarten, was a rude awakening.  But winning a position on the football and baseball teams seemed to ease the pain. It was there in a school lunch line that I met my wonderful wife of 35 years. I laughingly tell her that we never get bored because I wake up with a new woman every morning.   We married after going together for five years in high school and college at Middle Tennessee State University, where I was a founder of the local fraternity that has since become SAE, the ROTC Brigade commander, and the unsuccessful candidate for Student Body President.  We have two great kids, both grown and gone, neither of which shows any inclination to settling down and giving us grandkids. The eldest is living in Northern Virginia and STILL finishing her degree. The youngest just returned from 10 months backpacking through Central and South America and is now looking for work. He is an Environmental Engineer with four years compliance and instruction experience, with a degree from Notre Dame.  Anybody got any leads?  All in all college was a blast, but the Army called, and after 22 years, a tour in Vietnam (4th Infantry Division, in the Central Highlands), a tour in Germany (Baumholder, would you believe?), a tour in Korea (2d Infantry Division near the DMZ), a GREAT tour in England with the USCINCEUR Airborne Command Post, and an MBA, I retired.  I have been working as a government contractor for the past twelve years supporting Army programs such as the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, Theater High Altitude Area Defense, the National Missile Defense system and Acquisition Reform.  I will probably keep at this until I croak, since we just built a new house with a long mortgage.  I am currently working on a Doctorate in Business Administration, Management and I’m almost ABD, which is not the place to be. I hope to someday semi-retire and use the DBA to consult and teach at the local University.  And you know what? I just love this website!!!!

I’m looking forward to Las Vegas, and if you see a doofy looking silver-haired guy wandering around with a puzzled expression, give me a break and tell me who you are!  None of us look anything like we looked at HH Arnold, except maybe Marla

I went to Dreux American HS for a year, then came state side to finish up at Mt. Vernon HS in Northern VA.  I graduated from Villanova and became a teacher in VA.  After a couple of years I became a principal.  I did that for 10 years then got out to work in the "real" world for 6 years in NJ.  Went back into education and stayed there till retirement in 1999.  Since then have worked for Strayer Univ.  my wife Jean and I live in Richmond near our daughter and foster daughter and the grandchildren.  This site brings back many happy memories, thanks, Ron.
