Here's a brief (brief for me) summary of myself. Follow
graduation, 6/10/62, I started college at Penn State (as did Stevie
Mooney) and graduated in '66 with a BS in Chemical Engineering.
The following September I married an absolutely wonderful girl whom I
met at PSU - the former Marcia Hoy whose family and ancestors had lived
in Penn since 1737. Together we moved to Bethlehem, PA where I
attended Lehigh Univ on an NSF fellowship and Marcial taught middle
school (she actually taught all of Mario Andretti's kids, (kinda tells
you how really long ago this was). I got my MS in '67 and accepted
a job with Eastman Kodak in Rochester. Later I attended the same
school, Simon School of Business Admin and got an MBA ('76) in finance
and marketing. Kodak gave me a terrific career and I left ('98)
after 31 years with a nice buyout package. Next I joined CVC,
Inc.. as general manager and division director of Wafer Process
Services. After a year the company mounted a successful IPO and I
watched my options grow 25 fold. God that tech-bubble was
great-but too short lived. In the meantime CVC swallowed some
little fish before finally being swallowed by Veeco, Inc. Veeco
wanted me to transfer to corporate and I wouldn't go. Roots for an
Air Force brat are too precious to dismiss, so I retired and am now
happily writing a fictional novel on two people in love in the 18th
century Gallacia (part of the old Austro-Hungarian Empire).
It's really a challenge, but this is where my family roots
are. During all of this Marcia and I produced two
wonderful children, Parrish, our son who is 30, a scientist, married and
living in Boston and Paisley, our daughter (25) who is an advertising
exec for a big agency in Chicago. We miss our kids since they live
so far away, but eventually we all face some form of this longing.
WHS was a singular turning point in my life. So filled with
wonderful memories - we lived on Mississippi Strassee, just across the
road from school. Some of my classmates at HH Arnold were kids I
knew and went to school with in other faraway places. Ron Redd was one
of these. We were both at Johnson AFB in Japan from 1952-55 and I
played during and after school with Ronnie. I think Ron
remembers me from that time period, but I surely do because I was
fearfully afraid of him - he was such a stinker as a kid, so bossy, but
he had mellowed, somewhat by his Senior year. I still have my 1962
issue of Vapor Trails and chuckle at the dozens of letters and notes
written on the inside covers and throughout. Roslind Robb was my
very dear friend then. She was married on the very same date as
Marcia and I in 1966. At WHS Milt Rose, Mike Richardson and I were
inseparable friends. Remember that old antique Mercedes that Mike
drove? Did this all really happen 45 years ago?? I can close
my eyes and see everyone as clearly as I knew them then. Yes,
attending HH Arnold was a watershed time period for all of us.
Happy go lucky times. I like to think the presence of our parents
in West Germany contributed big time to keeping the USA and Europe out
of another war. We all made sacrifices, but the memories made it
all more than worth it. I like to hear from anyone who
remember. As Jimmy Stewart said, "it really is "a
wonderful world"

Currently residing in
Burbank, CA. I have wandered through 4 professions. Cancer
chemotherapy research, secondary school science teacher, real estate
sales, and presently, RN Nurse working for the emergency transport
team of Children's Hospital in LA. (Someday, I'll decide what I want to
be when I grow up!) I have two children, one of each gender. My
son is a substance abuse counselor and part time web master for the VA
Administration Hospital in Baltimore. His other hobby is
producing children ..TEN
at last count. (They can be viewed at
www.loftus@abs.net/~loftus/)
The religious and political views expressed on the website are his own,
not of his maternal sponsor. My daughter is a PICU RN (Pediatric
Intensive CAre Unit) at the Childrens Hospital in San Diego.
(Luckily, she is only planning on only having one or two children). My
present position pretty well uses me up time and energy wise, so my
major other advocation is trying to advance my computer use skills and
knowledge. Being a MAC OS user makes learning a fairly easy
pleasure, and has the advantage of having not cost me less worry
about Y2K. And you know what else? I just love this web site.
