After barely graduating from WHS, I went off to college in San Marcos, Texas. Other than trying to keep Jim "Heavy" Clark from visiting me from Texas A&M with all his Army Animal friends and ruining my reputation, I just slipped thru school again. Avoiding the Army and Heavy again, I joined the Air Force and managed to baby-sit a Titan II missile throughout the Viet Nam War. Bored with 30 hour shifts out in the deserts around Tucson, I volunteered (did my dad tell me never to volunteer) to become an astronaut...I thought but ended up as a space systems warning officer in the SAC underground command post. In that business I spent the next 21 years looking up in space or down from above but never getting my feet off the ground. I got to see the world after two year in Omaha with tours in Australia, the NORAD IG Team, North Carolina, Tampa, Cornhusker Nebraska (in what cornfield is that?), and then to Kaiserslautern, Germany in ‘82. Unfortunately I didn’t get back to Wiesbaden but one time while in the land of brats and beer. Back to Australia to play with the satellite system that kept me going in the Air Force (the Defense Support Program or satellite early warning system) which led me to Denver Colorado doing the same thing. There I got to play Desert Storm where we detected and reported all the Scud missile launches. Duty called and I just had to go back to Australia for one last tour down under. Time flew and here I found myself in 1993 and needing to retire but took one last assignment in Colorado Springs at US Space Command. My secret plan was to take delivery of my brand new Harley Dyna Low Rider….which I seem to have fallen in love with and traveled all over the USA and every nook and cranny in Australia. Along the way I managed to have three wonderful children: Stacy, married and living in Scotland; Karie, married and making a baby in LA, and David here in Adelaide, South Australia just a few minutes from where I live. Now taking a second breath, I love beginning my new life and can’t wait to see everyone in Las Vegas….especially someone special.

Carl Johnson Jr  slocarl@hotmail.com

After graduation, I enrolled at Boston University Majoring in biology, as a pre-med student in intercollegiate track and field.  Was awarded the John Thomas Award for most valuable performer in track and field.  Elected to the Scarlet Key Honor Society.  Graduated in 1966, but without concrete plans for the future.  Attended BU graduate school for 2 years and lost interests in that and left Boston in 1968 for LA.  Lost my Father in 1967.  Got a job as a research technician at UCLA Medical Center.  This eventually led to enrollment into med school at UCLA.  Received internship and residency training at UCLA dept of pathology, followed by a 2 year employment at Martin Luther King Hosp in LA as director of hematology and blood bank.  Moved in 1980 to San Luis Obispo, where I have been since.  Now have a solo practice with 3 offices, two serving as small labs to provide frozen section analysis of tumors for diagnosis and removal while the patient is on the operating table.  Evaluate pap smears as well, and provide service to the local University...keeps me very busy.I am married to Jacque (21 years) and have 2 daughters, Lavonna (Lana) age 18 and Catherine age 15.  Neither is interested in medicine or the allied services. My hobbies include astronomy, and being active in sports to stave away the effects of age.  Plan to retire up in the hills of Colorado or Montana.....That's about it...
